Good Folk is a small interior design studio built on collaboration, curiosity, and a positive way of working.

Our Story
We started working together nearly six years ago and have been shaped by shared experience, mutual respect, and a desire to build something different.
Some of us were paired on our first design project in university, and we stayed connected throughout our studies and into practice. Each person brings a different set of skills, while respecting the strengths of one another. That balance is what keeps our work grounded and collaborative.
Before studying design, each of us came from different paths that help inform our work today:

Project coordinator
Small business owner
Graphic designer

Our Team

Michelle BID
This is our go-to person to make sure every single detail is perfect.
Michelle's lifelong pursuit of interior design is fueled by a deep appreciation for the psychology of built environments. After obtaining her Certificate in Interior Design at BCIT, she went on to graduate with a Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) from KPU.
She is captivated by the way micro-details and spatial layouts influence our daily lives, making it her mission to uncover these subtle nuances in every project.
With proven expertise in residential and multi-family interiors, Michelle crafts balanced, impactful design solutions.

Josh BID
This is who we come to for a truly imaginative design idea.
Josh grew up in the Alberta prairies, relocating to Vancouver with his partner and three kids on a crazy journey to obtain his Bachelor of Interior Design.
Bringing nearly 15 years of graphic design and marketing experience to the team, Josh is tirelessly working on how to use his skills to advocate for environmental sustainability and bio-based design practices. He is an active member of the IDIBC Climate Action & Innovation Committee and is studying to gain his WELL AP.

Bo BID
This is our resident organizer and deep researcher.
Bo grew up in a small village in PEI, spent years in technical project coordination and logistics in Alberta, and eventually moved to Vancouver, where she graduated with distinction from the Bachelor of Interior Design program at the Wilson School of Design (KPU).
Bo approaches design as a rigorous, evidence-based discipline rather than a purely aesthetic exercise. Her strengths lie in her ability to analyze data rapidly and synthesize it into functional design solutions.

Hailey BID, RHFAC
This is the person who keeps things running behind the scenes.

Our Culture
We built Good Folk because we wanted to create the kind of studio we wished existed when we started our careers.

Collaboration over hierarchy
Shared ownership + accountability
Respect for diverse skills + perspectives
We believe design has a responsibility beyond delivering projects. Wherever possible, we want to dedicate time and expertise to supporting non-profit and community organizations through pro-bono design work, assessments, and strategic guidance.
Rather than relying on rigid hierarchies, we aim to create a studio where ideas can come from anywhere and where responsibility is shared across the team. As we grow, we hope to build a structure that includes shared ownership, profit sharing, and transparent, equitable compensation.
